Photography

I really enjoyed the self-portrait project.  I have NO prior photography experience.  I've never really liked taking pictures of myself and very rarely smile.  I didn't know how to take pictures that represent who I am.  I really wanted to show the person that few know, the real me.  I have a tattoo that I designed myself.  It has my initials and portrays my heritage.  Another thing that I wanted to show is that I like to climb things and just do random stuff.  I sort of sustained my body in mid-air with a pole in my dad's neighbor's yard while he was away.  It was hard to position the camera because the only thing that could hold it up was the electric meter box.  I didn't want it to fall and break so that's the steepest angle I could have set it to.  The last picture I really liked because it shows that sometimes I need my space and don't want any distractions.  I had to grow up and become the man of the house when my parents divorced and sometimes I just needed some time to figure things out.  Family is first in my life so if someone tries to mess with them then they better watch out.  This assignment has really helped me to open up and show what I'm really like.  It has taught me how to show my emotions through a photograph.  I thought that I would never understand what the different buttons did but I realized that with a little practice I could learn to take better photographs. I am starting to love photography and hope to explore the world through my lens.

  1. Hey Andy! Omar here. I think you did very well despite having no prior experience in photography. Keep it up! Your use of location and other objects to express your uniqueness as an individual are remarkably clear and understandable. I'm sure you will become an excellent photographer someday, if that is what you want to do. Good luck!
